About Vision 195

Insight for Living Ministries is committed to excellence in following Jesus’ Great Commission to “go and make disciples of all the nations.” We will broaden our borders with the message of God’s majesty, the authenticity of His Word, and the power of the cross, woven into a tapestry of God’s amazing grace, in all 195 countries of our world. This will be accomplished by modeling the life of Christ and mentoring disciples through the new Charles R. Swindoll Searching the Scriptures Training Centers, our daily broadcasts, translations of our broadcasts and published resources, the latest technology, and international pastoral internships. Vision 195 is the mission that God has given us for all generations.

A Firm Foundation. A Bold Vision.

Since 1979, Insight for Living Ministries has faithfully broadcast God’s Word. This has given us a firm foundation upon which to cast a bold vision for the future to reach all 195 countries so that lives will be transformed to become spiritually self-sustaining.

In 1959, Chuck Swindoll began his training for ministry at Dallas Theological Seminary. His studies included a course taught by Dr. Howard G. Hendricks. That course changed Chuck’s life. He learned how to study the Scriptures and deliver messages with applications that touch the heart.

Chuck has explained that method of study and delivery in a series titled Searching the Scriptures. This series is for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of what it means to

  1. observe the text of Scripture,
  2. probe the meaning of Scripture,
  3. compare the truths of Scripture, and
  4. apply the wisdom of Scripture.

Searching the Scriptures Translations

Chuck is also writing a book called Searching the Scriptures, as well as companion STS Bible studies, which will be the centerpiece of Vision 195. Our plan is to establish the new Charles R. Swindoll Searching the Scriptures Training Centers under the direction of Insight for Living Ministries in each country. Each center will be led by qualified and trained pastors and translators. These pastors will, in turn, train and mentor indigenous pastors within their own countries to translate our resources for people groups who currently have translated Bibles in their heart languages. Amazingly, there are 6,875 heart languages in our world.

We plan to move forward with Vision 195 one day at a time as the Lord opens doors for us to model the proper use of Scripture and to mentor others in applying His Word to their life experiences—in essence, to become spiritually self-sustaining. In every country, we will follow the Lord’s leading with respect for each culture, believing that He will continue to open doors for us into new countries just as He has faithfully done since 1979.

Vision 195 seems staggering when you think about it . . . until you remember that the disciples “turned the world upside down” in the first century—without worldwide technology! With the disciples’ tenacious, vigorous spirit and the gracious, generous financial support of our partners, Insight for Living Ministries will move forward to fulfill Jesus’ non-negotiable, compelling Great Commission.

International Headquarters and Training Center

To support this vision’s aggressive international outreach, we are currently building our own international headquarters in Frisco, Texas. It will house the first Charles R. Swindoll Searching the Scriptures Training Center, where we will train international students, pastors, leaders, and interns, many of whom will become future pastors and translators within the 195 countries.

This is an audacious vision, but we have a sovereign God who has commissioned us with an unconditional promise: “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20, emphasis added).

may seem like an audacious vision, but we have a sovereign God who specializes in impossibilities.

Join Us in Going to “All the Nations”

For the last few years, Cynthia and I have focused our attention on building Insight for Living Ministries’ legacy, which we base on Matthew 28:19–20: “Make disciples of all the nations . . . . Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (NLT). Will you join us in this all-important legacy?
